Privacy policy

Effective 22 August 2026

HearHush handles information about tinnitus, hearing checks, mood and wellbeing. We treat this as sensitive health information and use it only to provide and improve the service.

Who we are

HearHush is a tinnitus self-management and sound-support service. For privacy questions or requests, contact Email support.

Information we handle

HearHush does not record audio from your microphone. Audio calibration uses tones played through your device and your on-screen responses.

Why we use it

We use this information to authenticate your account; provide assessments, calibration, sound personalisation, reports and programme progress; keep the service secure and reliable; diagnose crashes; answer support requests; and understand aggregated product usage. We do not sell personal or health information.

Services that process information

We use service providers acting on our behalf, including Google Firebase for authentication, analytics, crash reporting and file delivery; Google Sign-In when you choose it; our hosted HearHush application programming interface and database; and infrastructure providers that host and deliver the app and website. Links or embedded content from services such as YouTube and Reddit are governed by those services when you choose to open them.

Sharing

We share information only with service providers needed to operate HearHush, when you ask us to, to protect users and the service, or when required by law. Health information is not used for advertising or shared with data brokers.

Security and international processing

Information is encrypted in transit. Access is limited to people and providers who need it to operate the service. Providers may process information in countries other than yours, subject to their contractual and legal safeguards.

Retention and deletion

We keep account information while your account is active and retain other information only as long as needed for the purposes above. You can request deletion from within the app under Account, or use our account deletion page. We delete or de-identify associated data unless limited retention is required for security, fraud prevention or legal compliance. Backup copies age out through normal retention cycles.

Your choices and rights

You may request access, correction, export, restriction or deletion of your information, and may object to or withdraw consent from processing where applicable. Contact Email support. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

Adults only

HearHush is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Health notice

HearHush is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. It does not replace professional care. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when required.
